Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-09-01

1. What we collect

  • Account information (email, name if provided).
  • Content you submit (texts you add, and optional recordings).
  • Content you explicitly choose to send through an authorized AI connector, such as resume and job-description text for interview practice.
  • Usage data (pages visited, features used, timestamps).
  • Device data (basic diagnostics like browser type).

2. How we use your data

  • Provide feedback on your speech and writing.
  • Track your learning progress and show analytics.
  • Understand how the product is used, via first-party interaction events (for example onboarding steps or feature opens) stored on our own servers — no third-party analytics run inside the app.
  • Improve reliability and prevent abuse.
  • Provide customer support.

3. Audio and text

  • Recordings and texts are processed to generate feedback and progress stats.
  • Connector source text is stored only while the requested project is being planned, then removed from the temporary request envelope. The resulting practice project remains in your account until you delete it or your account.
  • You can delete your recordings and texts at any time from your account.
  • We do not sell your content.

4. Model training

  • Your texts and recordings are not used to train public AI models.
  • We do not fine-tune third-party AI models on your individual content.
  • We may use aggregated, de-identified statistics (e.g., error frequency by skill area) to improve our own product features. This data cannot be linked back to your account.

5. Third-party services

  • We use third-party providers — including OpenAI, Cerebras, and Microsoft Azure Speech — to process audio and text and return AI feedback. They act as data processors and use your data only to deliver the service to us.
  • When you use Contexta from ChatGPT, Codex, Claude, or another authorized connector, that host transmits only the content and tool inputs you approve. The host provider handles its copy under its own privacy terms; Contexta handles the received data under this policy.
  • Stripe processes subscription payments. We do not store full card numbers; Stripe retains its own copy under its privacy policy.
  • Resend handles transactional email delivery (verification, password reset, billing receipts).

6. Cookies and analytics consent

  • Strictly necessary cookies — used for authentication, session management, CSRF protection, and the Stripe checkout — cannot be disabled without breaking the service.
  • Analytics cookies are optional and only enabled after explicit consent.
  • You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of any page; the link reopens the consent banner.

7. Data retention

  • Account data is kept while your account is active.
  • When you delete content (a recording, text, or your account), it is removed from active systems immediately and from encrypted backups within 30 days.
  • Temporary connector source text expires after 24 hours at the latest and is normally removed earlier, as soon as Contexta has safely created the project snapshot or the request reaches a terminal failure.
  • Billing records (invoices, payment status) are retained for 7 years to meet tax and accounting requirements.
  • When you subscribe to or unsubscribe from marketing emails, we keep a timestamp of that choice as a record of your consent.
  • Aggregated analytics with no personal identifiers may be retained indefinitely.

8. Your rights (EEA / UK / California)

  • Access, export, or correct your data — you can download a JSON export from your account settings.
  • Delete your account at any time. Account deletion cancels any active subscription.
  • Object to or restrict specific processing, and withdraw analytics consent at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are an EU resident, the relevant lead authority is your country's DPA.
  • Send rights requests or questions to support@contextalearning.com; we respond within 30 days.

9. International transfers

  • Our infrastructure and several AI processors are located in the United States. Where required, transfers from the EEA / UK rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
